The Foundation GRF Davos supports a number of initiatives and initiates initiatives with in the broad field of Risk Reduction and Disaster Management, Climate Change and Sustainable Development.
Risk Award
The RISK Award is a joint initiative from the Munich Re Foundation, UNISD and GRF Davos. The RISK Award endowed with up to 100.000 €, is assigned to operational projects in the field of risk reduction and disaster management. The prize is awarded every two years at the International Disaster and Risk Conference (IDRC), organised by GRF Davos. The biennial topic will be announced at the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in Geneva, organised by UNISDR.
EUR-OPA's Initiative on Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction
Global Risk Forum GRF Davos supports the initiative of the EUR-OPA Major Hazards Agreement on the inclusion of people with disabilities in disaster preparedness and response, launched with a Workshop in October 2013. The 5th International Disaster and Risk Conference IDRC Davos 2014, to take place on 24 - 28 August 2014 in Davos, Switzerland, is expected to address disability and disaster risk reduction.
