GRF Davos Supports EUR-OPA's Initiative on Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction

 

On 24 October 2013, the Committee of Permanent Correspondents of the European and Mediterranean Major Hazards Agreement (EUR-OPA) adopted a Recommendation on the inclusion of people with disabilities in disaster preparedness and response. This represents a significant step and an important commitment on the part of the Council of Europe and of its EUR-OPA Agreement in their contribution to Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction. The Global Risk Forum GRF Davos welcomes and supports this initiative.

EUR-OPA Worshop 2013

The EUR-OPA Workshop "Including People with Disabilities in Disaster Preparedness and Response" was held 22-23 October 2013 in Paris.

IDRC Davos 2014 - Call for Abstract on Disability Inclusive DRR

The 5th International Disaster and Risk Conference IDRC Davos 2014, to take place on 24 - 28 August 2014 in Davos, Switzerland, is expected to address disability and disaster risk reduction. It will certainly capitalize on the findings of EUR-OPA report “Including People with Disabilities in Disaster Preparedness and Response” and the "Guidelines for the Treatment of People with Disabilities During Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Situations" which are linked with it.
