GRF Davos supports the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification's World Day to raise th public awareness for the impacts of desertification.
During the 3rd International Disaster and Risk Conference IDRC Davos 2010, GRF Davos dedicated one of the 13 plenary sessions to the impacts of Desertification, Land Degradation and Drought. The session was chaired and supported by the UNCCD, Bonn, Germany and the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency, SDC, Bern, Switzerland.

The Global Risk Forum GRF Davos also contributed actively to combat desertification. Within the IDRC Davos 2010 each Plenary Speaker has received a certificate of the World Land Trust for one acre of threatened wilderness habitat and all its wildlife in Equador. Overall GRF Davos saved during the IDRC Davos 2010 75 acres of rain forest.
